nano Eating Your Way to Lower Cholesterol Levels

If your doctor has told you your cholesterol is elevated you may be looking for a way to lower it without medication. If so there is some good news for you from Canadian researchers. They report that eating certain foods each day can cut cholesterol as effectively as taking a first-generation statin drug.

The study’s lead author, Dr. Jenkins from St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto says the only side effect seen with the diet was mild weight loss. That’s not so bad.

Dr. Jenkins states that he hopes to make cholesterol control within the grasp of the average person.

The foods that were used in the study contained soluble fiber such as oat bran bread, psyllium, and raw eggplant. Additionally, soy protein such as a soy beverage or burger and almonds were included. Each participant in the study was required to eat seven servings daily from the food list.

After one year all participants had lowered their bad cholesterol by at least 13 percent and just under one third had reductions greater than 20 percent.

So, as you make your grocery list this week you may want to consider including these foods.

Have a healthy evening.
