nano Joining Hands in Support of a Healthy Child Weigh

As obesity rates continue to climb more time and effort is being spent to find solutions, especially for our children

To help reverse this obesity trend, last Friday, the United States and Europe launched an ''obesity platform'' which calls on companies, health experts and consumer groups to join hands.

As part of this “obesity platform”, the soda industry in both the United States and Europe have already agreed to a voluntary ban on advertisements aimed at children.

It fact, nine soft drink companies including PepsiCo and Coca-Cola have agreed to the ban, which will apply to ads in magazines, on websites and television shows aimed at children under the age of 12.

This is exciting news and makes us wonder what we can do in our homes? First remember that soda is neither good nor bad, but the diet needs to be balanced if weight is going to be controlled. Try using beverages such as low-fat milk, water and small amounts of juice as the primary fluids. As for soda, keep it as a special treat and don’t forget the portion size. An 8 oz serving is a measuring cup.

Have a healthy day.
